NOT FEELING SO MERRY?
Look at this ! “This bush appears to be dead. It’s actually quite unappealing and one might be tempted to cut it down because it is so ugly . It seems to have no purpose in my yard - just taking up space with its dry and barren sticks of ugliness.
There’s nothing around it to give it “perspective” but it is huge ! 8 feet tall and 16 feet in circumference.
But I know better. I recognize that it’s an eyesore now but next fall, it will produce the most beautiful yellow flowers and light up the backyard with its blossoms in the early autumn air.
Life is like this sometimes . Something gets in our yard and it is ugly and takes up a lot of space and we can’t explain it. Maybe it’s a broken relationship, a health issue, the loss of a dear one , betrayal, “that struggle” which just won’t go away. The list of uglies could go on and on.
However, if you’ve walked with God for a while you KNOW what He can do! Look at yourself! Even you were formerly the walking dead! Living according to the ways of this world. BUT GOD because of His love and mercy made you ALIVE with Christ!
And now , as His child through Christ, you are in a period of suffering and it’s not pretty. BUT GOD has made you a promise “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
He is the Maker of stars
He is the Mender of broken hearts
Did Jesus not tell us to not be afraid for our Father has chosen gladly to give us the kingdom?
Life is seasonal - it ebbs and flows with joy and sorrow . Occasionally, we are broken . BUT GOD never breaks anyone or anything without purpose. It may look dead and ugly now but wait on God in faith and look forward to what is coming soon.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
